Henry Cavill - Latest victim of the Superman Curse?
The "Man of Steel" and "Batman vs. Superman" actor was injured while working on his Netflix series 'The Witcher - Season 2". So far, reports saying that he injured his leg have been vague - and the only detailed one is from The Sun which states that Cavill was 20 feet in the air, secured by a harness when the injury took place. These details haven't been verified.
Regardless, this makes us wonder whether the Superman curse is still active.
For those of you who don't know what the Superman curse is... Here's a history lesson.
Everyone who acts as Superman in a film falls victim to a series of unfortunate events. For example, take George Reeves (no relation to Keanu) - he acted in 'The Adventures of Superman' from 1951 to 1958. He died of a gunshot wound at just age 45. Official sources say suicide, but the exact details are debated. His fingerprints weren't found on the Luger at the scene.
Reeve's death was a shock which caused a sudden cancellation of the TV series.
Kirk Alyn donned the cape in two serials in the 40s. As a result of acting as Superman he failed to get much roles elsewhere because he was very closely associated with that role. He appeared again in a Superman film, this time acting in a father role - Lois Lane's. Kirk passed away in 1999 after battling Alzheimer's.
Even babies who acted as Superman have had tragic fates. Lee Quigley was a baby actor who acted as baby Superman in 1978. He died in 1991 from solvent abuse. He was 14 years old.
Marlon Brando - this "Godfather" actor died in 2004 as a result of respiratory failure. Granted he was 80 at the time, but many other happenings in his life has been attributed to his role as Jor-El (Superman's daddy) in the 1978 film.
Brando's son Christian, shot his half-sister's boyfriend in 1990, for which he earned a five year imprisonment. Cheyenne Brando, the half-sister in question later committed suicide in 1995.
Brando's own death was just three months before his co-star Christopher Reeve.
Christopher Reeve was in four films between 1978 and 1987 as Superman. He was paralyzed from the neck down in 1995 after a horseback riding accident and then died at the age of 52, from a heart failure.
Margot Kidder was Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve. She suffered from bi-polar disorder and on April 1996, she went missing for several days. Police found her in a state of disorder and panicked.
Margot would later go on to dismiss the Superman curse. She died on 13 May, 2018 in Montana. Her death was ruled a suicide as a result of alcohol and drug overdose.
Anyone who has listened to Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" knows who Richard Pryor is - but do they know that he also acted as a villain in a Superman movie in 1983? Three years after the movie, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He died of a heart attack in 2005.
Now Dana Reeve wasn't in a Superman movie, she was married to him. The aforementioned Christopher Reeve's widow died of lung cancer in 2006 at the age of 44.
Interesting fact? Dana didn't smoke.

Now, regarding Henry Cavill - he has stated in the past that there's no such thing as a "Superman curse". However, his recent injury and the details (or the lack of details) can only stir speculation related to the curse. The movies that he acted in have also received a lot of negative reviews from fans and critics alike.
A possible explanation for the curse is that there are quite a number of films and TV series related to the Superman franchise. Sooner or later, sad and unfortunate events were bound to happen to the people involved, simply as a result of the large number of people involved.
Imagine for example that the franchise of "Wonder Woman" became quite popular and a good source of earning money. Then, more and more people would get involvedin the various films and series resulting for many diverse groups of people making "Wonder Woman" films. Then, because of the larger number of people involved, the possibility of getting into accidents and unexpected mishaps would also increase.
However, the number of people being injured and falling victim to accidents in the Superman franchise is notable. So, which is it? Are we reading too much into a natural happening?
Or is the Superman curse real???
